Metal passivator:

A metal passivator is a chemical used to treat the surface of a metal to form a thin and stable oxide layer to enhance the corrosion resistance and appearance of the metal. This oxide layer is usually a metal oxide or hydroxide, which has good adhesion and protective properties to prevent further oxidation reactions and corrosion of the metal in the environment.

The main purpose of metal passivation is to protect the metal from oxidation, corrosion and other environmental effects, while also improving the appearance of the metal. Here are some common metal passivators and their applications:

1. Chromate passivator: used for stainless steel, iron, copper and other metals, can form a layer of corrosion-resistant chromium oxide layer, enhance the weather resistance and beauty of the metal.

2. Zinc passivator: mainly used for galvanized steel parts, by forming a zinc oxide layer on the zinc surface to protect the substrate from corrosion.

3. Aluminum passivator: Used for aluminum and aluminum alloys, can form alumina film, providing corrosion resistance and electrical insulation.

4. Cadmium passivator: suitable for cadmium coating, can improve the corrosion resistance of cadmium, and has good lubricity.

5. Titanium passivator: used for titanium alloys, which can increase the corrosion resistance, heat resistance and electrooxidation properties of titanium alloys.

Metal passivation usually involves the formation of a thin layer of chemical reaction products on the metal surface, which can be achieved by soaking, spraying, or other coating methods. The passivation process can change the chemical properties of the metal surface, thereby enhancing its corrosion resistance and, in some cases, providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Different metals and applications require different types of passivators and treatment methods.
